Maritimo owner and founder
Bill Barry-Cotter was so
taken by the new S70 sedan
cruiser his team produced
for NZ owners last year, he
had to have one himself.
The Maritimo S70 hull
#2 will be displayed at this
year’s Sanctuary Cove
International Boat Show, and
we’re told Barry-Cotter can’t
wait for it to hit the water.

their ideal retirement vessel

cruising motoryacht, but
didn’t want a flybridge.

Marine electronics brand
Lowrance has released new
software updates for its
fishfinder/chartplotter HDS
Carbon, HDS Gen3 and Elite-
Ti displays that includes
sonar enhancements and
improvements for C-MAP
charting.
At the heart of the release
is FishReveal, a new sonar
feature that makes fish
easier to see on DownScan
Imaging. The upgrade also
including enhancements
to StructureScan 3D and
StructureScan HD, plus a
new and easy-to-interpret
C-MAP navigation palette.
Lowrance described
FishReveal as a “massive”
leap forward in fishfinding
technology that allows
anglers to quickly and easily
discover how fish orient

themselves in and around
cover and structure, with
clearly defined fish arches.
“Unlike traditional CHIRP
views that provide strong
fish targets, but lack refined
structure detail or DownScan
imaging, FishReveal’s smart
target viewing blends
the best data from both
technologies, eliminating the
need for split-screen viewing
and interpretation,” said the
company.
The new High-Visibility
Colour Sonar exclusive
to HDS Carbon delivers
industry-leading clarity
and range with near-
photographic images to
each side and below the
boat. Lowrance says that
by making full use of the
dynamic colour spectrum,

specifically for him.”
The boss’ four-cabin
model is powered by a pair
of 1200hp Scania motors,
while the full-beam master
suite, the study desk and
daybed have been swapped
from one side to the other
and stone flooring included
in the en-suite bathroom.
Other changes were
made in the saloon and
entertaining area with a
more streamlined flow
on the port side and the
position of the icemaker and
the wine fridge shifted from
the S70 hull #1’s layout.
The S70 sedan can
navigate under bridges
enabling Barry-Cotter
to access his waterfront
property north of the Gold
Coast’s Surfers Paradise.
The second S70 expects
to perform in-line with
its economic predecessor
cruising at 25kts around
2000 rpm with a top speed
of 30kts at 2300 rpm.

Imaging and StructureScan
3D can now produce richer
and more detailed imagery.
High-Visibility Colour
enhances brightness in
darker areas, but prevents
overexposure in brighter
areas, extending the visible
range to see what is in the
shadows close to the boat or
more than 100 feet away.
Lowrance said the C-MAP
Navigation Palette for
C-MAP charts is a major

upgrade in readability that
is most apparent near shore,
where the colours used
for varying landmarks are
differentiated and contour
lines are distinct. “The new
palette makes it easier to see
where the boat is in relation
to a channel, navaid, ledges
and drop-offs, or a point of
land,” Lowrance explained.
