be the fifth vessel Austal
has delivered to French
Polynesia since 2002.

only continues a
successful relationship
between Austal and
SNC Aremiti, but further
confirms the company’s
leadership position in the

international high-speed
ferry market,” said Austal
CEO, David Singleton.
The design features
seating capacity for
620 passengers and
garage space for up to
30 motorbikes, small
vehicles and cargo. With
a top speed of 36kts it will
operateonthePapeete-
Moorea route.
Thevesselwillbe
designed in Australia
and construction will
takeplaceatAustal
Philippines, with delivery
scheduled for July 2019.

Barangaroo Fast Ferry, the
newest Sydney Harbour
operation of national travel
group SeaLink, put a new
catamaran into service over
summer.
SeaLink announced that it
had signed a contract to take
delivery of the 280-passenger
high-speed multipurpose

ferry in September last year
and that it “initially will be
located in Sydney, where it
will assist Hop-On Hop-
Off, Watsons Bay, Manly
Ferry and whale watching
services.”

the Incat Crowther vessel
was built by Aluminium

198 passengers inside and
82 outside. Measuring 29.3m
in length overall and with
an 8m beam, it is the fourth
vessel of this design and
includes Incat Crowther’s
new generation propeller

New South Wales
boatbuilder Steber
International has launched
its fourth and largest vessel
for the Fregate Island
Resort in the Seychelles
archipelago.
The Steber 5200 (52ft) will
be used for a variety of resort
activities covering extended
excursions, game fishing and
diving.
Features include two
sleeping cabins, two lounge
areas, galley, two bathrooms,
inflatable dinghy and crane.

Additional on-deck seating
is suitable for scenic tours
and guest transfers from the
mainland to Fregate Island
and return.
The 5200 will join the fleet
of three other vessels, the
first of which was delivered
back in 1999. In 2016,
Fregate Island took delivery
of a Steber 3800 (38ft) which
is being used to transfer
clients between the island
and mainland at present and
will now expand into other
resort activities.

The main deck features a
large open aft deck, with three
bathrooms. Large double doors
lead to the main cabin, where
137 passengers are seated.
There is a large kiosk/bar aft,
and amidships boarding doors.
Forward doors lead to a fully
enclosed foredeck, offering
operational flexibility.
Upstairs, the mid deck seats
61 inside and 36 outside. All
exterior seats on this deck are
protected from the sun by the
deck overhead. The roof deck
seats 48.
The vessel is fitted two
Yanmar 6AYM-WGT engines,
each producing 670kW. This
will enable the catamaran
to operate comfortably and
efficiently at 25kts at a modest
percentage of maximum
continuous rating (MCR), with
24kts achievable at full load
with 85 per cent MCR.
