explorerforsalebutMaxinewasnot
convinced.“Linesareveryimportantto
me.IfI’mhonest,Ihadn’timaginedthe
nextboatlookinglikethat,”sherecalls.
“Butwhenwewentoutonitwewere
impressedwithherchunkinessandfeeling
ofsolidityandstability.Itfeltsosafeat
sea,andithadsomuchspaceinside–it
reallyfeltlikeahouse,witheveryone
havingenoughroomtodotheirownthing.
Wedidn’tbuyherastherewassomuch
workneededtobringheruptostandard,
butshedid,eventually,leadustoCantiere
delleMarcheforthenextboat.”
CantieredelleMarchehascarveda
nameforitselfintheexploreryachtmarket
sinceitwasfoundedin2010.Itsboatsare
morethanwhiteyachtswithachunky
look;theyboasttrulyruggedsteel-hulled
constructionandexceptional range,

EnnioCecchini.“Twoyearsafterahugerecessionwasnotthemostopportuneyear
inwhichtostartashipyard,”admits
Cecchini,theCEOofthecompany,“but
wefoundaclientwhobelievedinus,and
now,nineyearson,wehavedelivered 20
yachts–andwonawardsforthem.”The
seaworthiness of these vessels is

HurricaneSandyassheapproachedFort
Lauderdalewhereshewastotakepartin
theboatshow.“Shewastaking20ftwaves
onthestern,”Cecchinisays,“butsherode
themoutsafelyandarrivedjust 12 hours
beforetheshowstarted–andshewasstill
readyintimefortheopening!”Theyard
