Halco single-strand
wire traces
Single-strand wire – often called piano wire – offers lots of
advantages for lure anglers. It is significantly thinner for a given
strength than multi-strand wire, so is less visible and delivers far
more success with wary species. Single-strand wire is also smooth,
not corrugated like braided wire, making it better for trolling
diving lures. A corrugated wire will vibrate when pulled at an angle
through the water, often making wary fish shy away from striking.
The tricky part of using single-strand wire traces is making
them, since making the connections to snap and swivel is a fiddly
art. Now there’s an easier way, with Halco releasing a convenient
range of ready-made high-quality traces made from American
Fishing Wire’s premium US-made stainless-steel single-strand
wire. The traces all beautifully finished with tight and precise
haywire twist connections, with a premium rolling swivel at one
end and Halco’s super-strong Crosslock snaps at the other.
Halco’s single-strand wire traces come in 25cm and 50cm
lengths and in breaking strains of 58lb, 86lb and 105lb, giving
you plenty of options for a quick, easy trace that you can count
on at short notice.
Viking 46 Billfish
The Viking Yacht Company’s new 46 Billfish is a ready-to-go fishing machine, with its large cockpit already built with
an in-deck mounting plate for a fighting chair or table. Other standard equipment includes a cockpit bait freezer,
two in-deck insulated fish boxes with overboard drainage, a walk-through transom door, a transom fish box
and live well, rodholders, tackle storage and fresh and sea-water wash downs. Two-person, mezzanine-style
seats flank the centreline walkthrough, with refrigerated drink storage in the starboard mezzanine step.
End-grain balsa and closed-cell foam are used as coring materials in selected areas for optimized
strength and stiffness, with a modified vinylester resin used in the entire hull skin. The integral
fiberglass fuel tank is resin-infused with balsa coring on all sides for stiffness.
A large centreline hatch gives you quick access to the engines and optional Seakeeper SK 6
gyro stabiliser. Twin Cummins QSM11 715hp diesels provide the standard power, while twin
MAN I6-800 CRM 800hp engines are optional.
The 46 Billfish’s flybridge can be completely enclosed and air conditioned. It features a
salon-like living area with a roomy U-shaped lounge and hi-lo table, plus a lounge along
the starboard side. The tournament-style centre console walk-around helm
features Palm Beach-style controls, power-assist hydraulic steering and a
single Release Marine teak chair (a second helm chair is optional).
The air-conditioned cabin features high-gloss teak cabinetry
and custom Amtico flooring. Its starboard-side galley has
an L-shaped Corian countertop with under-counter drawer-
style refrigeration and a built-in ice maker. A private forward
stateroom offers an island queen bed, while the port side
cabin provides upper and lower bunks.
