undergoing fit-out work prior to being put
into service in BC (see “Boat Design: aQua
tromoy” in the July 2019 issue of WM).
Tied up ahead of the aQua tromoy are the
navy tug glendyne (1975, Yarrows) and the
oil spill response barge burrard cleaner
no.10 (1966, Yarrows). Point Hope Maritime
continues to move forward with plans to
expand its facilities with a new $50 million
graving dock, which received city approval
in 2018 and is working its way through the
federal approval process. In the meantime,
the yard is keeping its existing marine
railway and turntable busy with a steady
flow refit and repair work – see “In the
Shipyards” on page 57 of this issue. In
the photo right are two vessels that aren’t
in the yards report: A pair of new Moen
NabCat 1350 fish farm support vessels
(sisterships to the iron knight) built in 2018
by NCP Grupa D.O.O. of Croatia and regis-
tered as the moen pacific and moen atlantic. They were undergoing final fit-out at Point Hope Maritime prior to going to work in
the Campbell River area.
