MID-LAYER JACKET
Helly Hansen’s relationship with the Swedish national ski team gave
rise to its latest creation, the HP Racing mid-layer jacket. As the name
suggests, it’s designed to go over any thermal undergarment and
under heavy duty offshore waterproofs, but in reality most of us
will wear it just as a boating jacket. And for that it looks perfect.
Waterproof, windproof but crucially breathable, it utilises new,
proprietary LIFALOFT™ insulation which is thinner and can be lighter
and warmer than typical alternatives. The Polartec® fl eece-lined collar
adds comfort and coziness, as do hand-warmer pockets and
adjustable cuffs. Award-winning and available in four colours, red,
bright blue, navy blue and black, it’s haute couture for the pontoons!

FUSION APOLLO RA670
Last year Fusion launched its Apollo series of
marine audio systems that bundled a whole
host of new features into two brand new
stylish and more modern units. This year it
is augmenting the range with the new Apollo
RA670. It sits between the range-topping
RA770 and the more basic SRX400 but aligns
itself closer to the former, giving similar
features in a more compact (and slightly
cheaper) format. So you get the same full
colour LCD display as the 770 but it’s smaller
(2.7 inch rather than the 4.3 inch screen of its
big brother) and controlled by buttons rather
than the touch screen. It’s IPX7 water and
dust-proof, so no problem installing it in a
small boat. Crucially, it produces the same
power as the RA770 with a very healthy
280 watts of output from its DSP amplifi er
across four channels, which can be split
into two separate zones (cabin and
cockpit for example) with the option to
add a third zone using a separate
amplifi er. It has all the required inputs
including Bluetooth, wi-fi , USB or aux.
And it can be linked to the Apollo
PartyBus network to become a part of
a complete onboard system.

Rolex’s latest Yachtmaster is 42mm in diameter rather than the usual
40mm and is available in white gold only. The most obvious
difference beyond the size is the matt black Cerachom bezel insert
