MY FANTASY FLEET

Name: Tony Pauffley

Current boat: None at the moment

started sailing aged seven and have
spent 40 years in the marine industry.
I currently work in yacht development
for Coleman Marine Insurance, so I’ve
a good idea how I’d splurge my £5 million...

SUNSEEKER SUPERHAWK 34
£100,000 USED
I’d choose a small day boat with enough accommodation
to overnight and spend summer evenings moored in South
Deep in Poole. I’d opt for a Sunseeker Superhawk 34 with a
pair of Volvo KAD300, as I think a 34-footer is ideal for port
hopping along the south coast or for Channel crossings.
The performance of the Sunseeker Superhawk 34 is very
impressive. I don’t want to be working the trim and tab
controls all the time and have found the 34’s hull to be well
suited to easy boat handling while maintaining performance.

PRINCESS 62
£2,500,000 NEW
I’d like a family boat to keep in Mallorca – a fl ybridge vessel
of around 65ft LOA. I think we would have to keep her in
Palma as Ruth (my wife) loves the shopping and the charming
buildings in the older sections of town, plus access from the

airport is easy. We both love Port Soller, which is within
easy striking distance of Palma by boat. A Princess 62
would be a good fi t; big enough to host family and
friends and not so big as to need extra hands when
mooring. The layout with the galley up in the saloon and the
inside/outside seating would suit how we’d use the boat.

HANSE 458
£200,000 NEW
We have enjoyed some fantastic holidays sailing in Greece,
Croatia and Turkey, so I think the third vessel would be a
Hanse 458 sail boat to cruise around the eastern end of the
Mediterranean. Hanse have done a great job of producing a
range of boats that appeal to the whole family. They are light
and airy below with a clean outboard profi le for the purist.
The construction and underwater sections might not tick all
the boxes but for our family it’s not about beating to windward
for hours on end in a Force 5. For us success is measured by
whether we have kept the sun on the sunbathing cushions
all day and reach the evening anchorage in time to relax with
a chilled bottle of New Zealand Sauvignon.

A B O V E Tony would go under sail in the Med on a Hanse 458 T O P R I G H T A Sunseeker Superhawk 34 is his dream UK vessel
B E L O W R I G H T If money were no option his family would spend summers cruising Mallorca aboard a Princess 62
