LONGEST INDOOR FORMATION
“4-WAY” SKYDIVE SEQUENCE
On 23 Oct 2015, the NMP Pch HayaBusa team – Belgians
Andy Grauwels, David Grauwels, Jeroen Nollet and Dennis
Praet – completed a sequence of 43 formations in the
Hurricane Factory, the only wind tunnel in Prague, Czech
Republic. The four skydivers achieved the record during
the first-ever FAI Indoor Skydiving World Championships.
LONGEST-DURATION GLIDE
IN A WINGSUIT
On 6 Nov 2016, Chris Geiler (AUS) sustained
a flight for 95.7 sec during the first FAI World
Wingsuit Performance Flying Championships
in Florida, USA. Athletes are flown to an
altitude of around 4,000 m (13,123 ft) then
exit the plane. Their competition zone is
between the altitudes of 3,000 m and
2,000 m (9,Ưƫ2–6,561 ft). They strive to fly
farther, faster or for longer than each other
within this 1,000-m (3,280-ft) “window”.
FARTHEST
STRAIGHT DISTANCE
TO A DECLARED GOAL
IN A HANG GLIDER
On 13 Oct 2016, Brazilians
André Wolf (pictured,
front) and Glauco Pinto
flew alongside each other
in separate hang gliders
for a straight declared
distance of 603 km
(374.687 mi) from Tacima
to Paraíba in north-
eastern razil. Wolf flew
in a Moyes Delta Gliders
Litespeed RX 3.5, while
Pinto opted for an Icaro
2000 Laminar 1 4.
FASTEST SPEED IN AN AIRSHIP
Steve Fossett (USA, above left) and his co-pilot Hans-Paul
Ströhle (DEU) achieved a speed of 115 km/h (71.45 mph)
in a ~eppelin Luftschifftechnik L~ D07-100 airship on
27 Oct 2004 over Friedrichshafen, Germany.
Fossett went on to make the first circumnavigation by
an aircraft without refuelling (solo), in 67 hr 1 min, from
1 to 3 Mar 2005 in the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer (below,
left and right). He started and finished at Salina in Kansas,
USA. The aircraft, constructed by Scaled Composites, was
powered by a single turbofan jet engine.

Klaus Ohlmann (DEU)
reached 306.8 km/h
(190.6 mph) over an
out-and-return course of
500 km (310 mi) on 22 Dec
2006 at Zapala in Argentina.
He flew a Schempp-Hirth
Nimbus-4DM. He also
flew the greatest free
distance in a glider:
2,256.9 km (1,402.3 mi), at
El Calafate in Argentina on
12 Jan 2010. This category
incorporates a course with
a declared start point and
finish point, and no turns.
