major refresh of Azimut’s
fl ybridge range kicks off at this
year’s show with the all-new
Alberto Mancini-designed 78.
Styling aside, the 78 is a
landmark boat for the yard
being its fi rst fl ybridge craft to run on IPS pods.

It’s not doing things by halves either,

offering triple installations of 900hp

or 1,000hp for a top speed of 30 knots.

Though some may be perturbed by the

notion of fuelling and caring for three engines

rather than the usual two, the space on board

and level of accommodation is likely to allay

any concerns. With the crew quarters

located in the bow, and the engines

mounted well aft in the hull there is space

between for four luxurious cabins including

a full-beam master ensuite amidships.

interesting boats at this year’s
show, the 660 is a larger
fl ybridge version of the wildly
innovative BeachClub 600,
launched earlier this year.
The Flybridge version gains yet more
external living space with enough room on
the foredeck for seating, a sunpad and a
place to stow the tender. The big news
though is the incredible water-level
saloon with sliding doors that open on
to the bathing platform. This boat tears
up the rule book in all the right ways.
Accessed via a central walkway, the
accommodation is forward on the lower deck
with three cabins comprising two guest twins
and a master. There’s more smart thinking here
as the bed faces forward rather than being
tucked into the point of the bow facing aft.
This means those in bed can enjoy the view
through the windows that wrap around the
bow. It’s a potential showstopper, for sure.
