Yacht: Oriana
Length: 29.14m
Year: 1984
Location: Vancouver

How’s the season been so far?
We have been cruising closer to home but have still had some
wonderful close encounters with both resident and migrant
whales – some coming within an arm’s reach of the boat.
Nothing short of spectacular
And Oriana is running well?
My passion for the boat continues stronger than ever. Over
the winter and spring months we did a complete rebuild of her
navigation and controls systems. Months of work, but
worthitto have the very latest in technology
onboard. We also rebuilt one of our three
generators and added a state-of-the-art

Aqua-Air conditioning system. With warmer summers here in
Canada, I feel the investment will be worth it. We also did some
nice cosmetic upgrades, including converting a bathtub into a
granite walk-in showers
How’s the new sundeck configuration?
This was one of last year’s projects and it has been extremely
popular. We can now comfortably seat 14 people under the
stars for dinner. With our warm summer nights and clear skies
it is hard to imagine a nicer place to entertain. With all the work
taking place on Oriana we have not been for any long adventures
yet, but we are planning a good long voyage for August to the
north end of Vancouver Island and perhaps beyond

Yacht: Hasna
Length: 73m
Year: 2017
Location: Newport

You’ve done some serious sea miles
since delivery...
We’ve done 43,990 miles. When we
joined the yacht in Palma in August 2017
it was our maiden voyage! We cruised
the western Med, before relocating
to the South Pacific in early 2018. We
cruised Bora Bora and French Polynesia
and came back to the Med in May
2018, where we spent another season
between the Balearics, Italy, Malta and
the South of France. We went to the
Caribbean in late 2018 and are now
cruising up the US East Coast

Is it possible to pick a highlight?
The South of France has always been a
favourite of ours, having visited there
many times in our previous yacht, Red
Anchor. Another favourite is Capri,
where the waters and rock formations
are spectacular. I was surprised with
the beautiful cruising in Malta, which
felt much like Capri in many ways. The
long journey to Bora Bora was worth the
effort – the experience of swimming with
the reef sharks was unforgettable
What prompted the cruise up
the East Coast?
It has always been on my bucket list.
We kicked it off in Cuba, which was
fascinating. It felt like we had gone back
in time. Just recently we anchored off
the Statue of Liberty – a dream come
true, especially since we were there for
the 4 July fireworks. Following Newport,
where we’re excited to host an Owners’
Club evening on board, we’ll keep
cruising this special coast, visiting the
Hamptons and Boston
