24 Jeremiah 21-36: A Translation
And I will multiply them, and they shall not decrease
I will give them honor, and they shall not be insignificant(^20) His sons shall be as of old
and his congregation before me established
I will reckon with all who oppress him
(^21) and his noble one shall be one of his own
And his ruler from his midst shall go forth
and I will bring him near, and he will approach me
For who is he that would risk his life
to approach me?
-oracle of Yahweh.
(^22) And you will be a people to me
and I, I will be God to you.
f) Yahweh's Desert Storm (30:23-24)
30 23 Look! the tempest of Yahweh
wrath goes forth
a sweeping tempest
Upon the head of the wicked it whirls
(^24) the burning anger of Yahweh does not turn back
Until it does and until it fulfills
the purposes of his heart
In the days afterward
you will understand it.
g) Grace Again in the Wilderness (31:1-6)
31 1 At that time-oracle of Yahweh-I will be God to all the tribes of Israel,
and they, they will be a people to me.
(^2) Thus said Yahweh:
It found grace in the wilderness
a people, survivors of the sword
Going to find his rest is Israel
(^3) From far off Yahweh appeared to me:
'With an eternal love I have loved you
therefore I draw you faithfully along
(^4) Again I will build you and you shall be built
virgin Israel
Again you'll deck yourself with your hand-drums
and go forth in the dance of merrymakers
(^5) Again you'll plant vineyards on Samaria's mountains
planters shall plant and eat the fruit'
