Modes Theory allowed us to move beyond discussing the Corinthian situation
in terms of socio-economic differences or personal rivalries, which could of
course play a role in them, as well. The theoretical framework applied,
however, allowed us to interpret such particular details on an abstract and
comparative framework. Finally, we used the Ritual Form Theory to under-
stand and compare multiple interpretations of the Eucharist and address the
problems of ritual efficacy and magical agency.
