his Melbourne house has been
transformed into a dream home for
Rod, Maria and their children Archie,
13, and Edie, 12. Initially, it was the
location the family loved but they could see that
the house, while not perfect, had good bones.

Construction took on the the task of keeping
the building’s heritage character intact while
ensuring it became a well-functioning, family-
friendly home. Rod and Maria’s architect
delivered plans for the crisp, contemporary rear
extension the couple desired and suggested
using products from the Scyon™ Walls range by
James Hardie™. “He recommended them highly
for their aesthetics and durability,” says Rod. “We
were sold on the lack of maintenance and
contemporary look.” Matrix™ cladding has
primarily been used on the extension, while
Stria™ 325mm cladding is used to great eff ect
on the fascia. The result has impressed Maria
and Rod: “These products are durable,
economical and give us the contemporary
architectural look we love.”We’re thrilled with how the house has turned
