EVOLUTION, NOT REVOLUTION Don Cameron’s background as a successful video director has influenced his approach to interiors.
One example is the way he orchestrates the experience of entrance – what does the eye settle on first, what does the colour communicate,
how do we move through an interior and what signals do each piece communicate? The second is his love of the process, the seeking
out of interesting pieces, which supersedes that of ownership. In his own words, “Objects that give soul to a space are important to
me and so creating this continually evolving stage is what matters.” In this instance (above), Don uses a mantelpiece with restrained
Grecian motifs as a framework to display a sculpture that looks like a sea creature and an over-scale shell that looks like a sculpture.
Take away: Think about flow, and the way one space relates to another.
