pastels
“Pastels are a big trend for 2019 that will
continue to be seen across interiors, fashion
and furnishings. The on-trend colour I see
is soft peach – and, rather than contrasting
it with other colours, it is being layered
with deep variations of the same colour.
We also see coral hues brightening up
palettes and interiors providing a fresher
and lighter approach to colour.”

water conscious
“We are beginning to notice a movement
around water consciousness, with clients
thinking more and more about reducing
the need to water their gardens. With the
Californian influence looking like it’s here
to stay, being water wise has never been
easier. As well as Australian natives, grasses,
succulents and Mediterranean plants are
excellent alternatives and seem to be opening
up people’s minds to less-thirsty plants.”

custom concrete
“What’s big for 2019? Coloured terrazzo.
It could be a splash of sage green or a dirty
peach, but a custom-coloured concrete
mix with a few pops of bold aggregate
is a hot and personalised look. Whether
it’s a formed concrete benchtop or
a stunning coloured floor, something
different will always impress.”

layered stone
“A trend we began to see at times
throughout 2018, and expect to grow
in 2019, is the use of natural stone and
terrazzo in the same space. A space clad
entirely in stone obviously delivers an
ultimate luxury feel, but sometimes
a space is best served by breaking things
up and providing some relief. Mixing
these two up-market materials strikes
a happy medium where the luxury finish
is maintained without being monotonous.”
