Up Your Score SAT, 2018-2019 Edition The Underground Guide to Outsmarting The Test

(Tuis.) #1

Example 1:
Samantha ate the mysterious object, it was a noodle.

The two independent clauses in this run-on sentence could be broken into two
sentences:

  1. Samantha ate the mysterious object.

  2. It was a noodle.
They could also be combined into one sentence using a semicolon: Samantha
ate the mysterious object; it was a noodle.
Sentence fragments are parts of sentences, usually verb-less, that are made
up to look like real sentences. They are usually placed next to real sentences into
    which they should be incorporated.

Example 2:
All the kids had rashes on their bodies. Especially those with uranium lunch
boxes.
