friend, Jillian Hessel. She is the best
teacher, an ex-ballerina, and she has
the old Pilates Cadillac that uses a
combination of springs and hands-
on work that is the best of the best.
It’s hard work and she worked very
carefully with me as I regained my
flexibility and strength. I still work
out with Jillian when we both have
the time. It’s probably one of my
favorite things to do. Afterwards
your body feels longer, leaner, and
stronger. I did Bar before and still
do it today. When I first got back
into class I could barely do anything.
Slowly I watched my muscles grow
stronger. I would say that my cardio
has not fully returned to my black belt
standards, however I am satisfied
with what I’m able to do and grateful
I can still dance.
What has doing yoga,
meditation and follo
wing a fitness routine
done to your mindset
as a strong woman?
I believe that yoga and meditation
My favorite place to work out is The
Bar Method in West Hollywood,
California. Favorite place to do yoga is
City Yoga in Beverly Hills, California.
What are your future
dreams and goals
both professionally
and personally?
My dream is to create the most
prominent foundation in this country
for transplant families and donor
families. To be able to hire a staff
and not do everything by myself and
with the help of a few volunteers. To
be able to speak all over the country
and inspire people to follow their
dreams and that miracles do happen.
To watch my daughter go after her
dreams and achieve them.
I was married for 26 years; I some
times miss being married and having
a partner in life. I feel that I am ready
to do that again. I would like to be in
love again. However, I am okay on
my own and find this second chance
at life to be fascinating.
is key to a balanced life. It gives me
the time to be able to focus on the
breath and focus fully on your mind-
body connection. It takes work to be
able to achieve that peaceful state.
However once you do it, you are able
to rejuvenate your focus and energy
for the everyday world. I think it’s
so important that we give ourselves
time with our body. When I am in any
type of stressful situation I just close
my eyes and breathe. I feel lucky
that I have known that my entire
life. I know whatever is happening
out there I can walk into a dance
studio, or a yoga class anywhere in
the world and feel connected. Dance
and movement, to me, is the greatest
form of communicating. I am blessed
I don’t have to force myself to stay in
shape; it’s just a way of life. Having
a body that you are proud of gives
you more confidence to go out into
the world and achieve your goals and
make your dreams come true.
