Kung-Fu Yoga
Martial arts meets meditation. Action man Jackie Chan
could be heading to India later this year to start shooting a
new comedy movie called Kung-Fu Yoga. The joint India-
China film was announced last year, the first project to
emerge from an India-China co-production treaty signed
back in September. “I am planning to start a new movie
called Kung Fu Yoga,” Chan said in an interview with The
Hindustan Times newspaper. “So, I will be returning to film it
in India. Hopefully, we will start filming in the autumn.”The Institute of Yoga
India, yoga’s spiritual birthplace, is looking to get organised
with its modern day yoga offer. According to local press,
the Indian government has proposed the establishment of
an All India Institute of Yoga. Proposals include formulating
a scheme to conduct a certificate course in yoga science
for specific target groups. India’s recently-appointed
Minister for Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy, Shripad Naik,
presented the plans in the nation’s parliament recently.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a keen practitioner
himself, has prioritised the development of yoga under his
leadership. He was the driving force behind the UN’s recent
adoption of an International Yoga Day on June 21.India
