We have this important sound -
Om which is considered universal.
This sound is there in Christianity, Islam - it is there in all religions.
The word
‘Amen’ contains the same constituents. The vibration from
this particular sound seems to go close to the highest. It begins
from the naval and goes up to the throat, nose, and finally up to the
head. It leads on to that kind of an experience where one is totally
drawn in to the sound.
In yoga they have selected this sound to pray, to remember God.
This sound has been so constructed that it stirs up certain kind
of feelings, thoughts. It can raise us from the very ordinary gross
things to something higher. Just continuously repeating the sound
affects the mind. One becomes inward, quiet, concentrated. It is the
shortest sound - no long word, sentences - just a sound that as if
stirs up the inside. To remember God becomes easier.
