Why did you start yoga
I approached the mat in my twenties, during my
first pregnancy. It was love at first sight. Yoga gave
me a sense of warmth and purpose, enhancing my
connection with my changing body. A few years later, I am even more grateful to have
found in my daily yoga and meditation practices not only nourishment for my body and
mind, but also a worldwide community of like-minded people – my tribe.

How has yoga changed your life
Yoga taught me acceptance, patience, humility. Acceptance of what is here and now.
Patience with my body that is sometimes aching, sometimes rigid and tired, but still
present, healthy and blooming. Humility to lower my expectations on how an asana
should be done, on how it should look, on how I should feel.

Favourite yoga haunts
I adore teaching my Kundalini classes in primary state schools in London. During my
teacher training (with Siri Arti and Starchild Yoga), I found in me a teacher that I never
suspected was there. Once a very shy little girl came to me after class and whispered in
my ear: “Don’t ever stop teaching this course please. This is my favourite time in school”.
It absolutely made my day. Kids growing up in a hectic, busy, noisy city like London need
to be able to find a space of clarity and calm – this is why I teach them yoga.

Best yoga moment
It was one of my last regular (non-pregnancy) Hatha classes before moving to a studio
with prenatal yoga. I was in the first row, right in front of the mirror, and I had to face
the fact that my body was so radically different from what it used to be. I could have let
melancholy take over, but rebelled against it and decided to let go and surrender. Instead
of trying to be the old Eleonora, the flexible thin one, pre-pregnancy, I listened to my new
body and observed its reactions to the poses with curiosity and non-judgement. It felt
liberating and joyful. At the end of the class, a woman came to me and said: “I am in awe.
You move like a fertility goddess”. It was all thanks to the yoga, and to my decision to
surrender. I felt a deep smile of gratitude emerge from inside and flood my face.

Anything else
I dream of encouraging young women, especially mothers, to love themselves, because
I strongly believe that self-love can create a ripple effect that positively affects families
and ultimately, society. That’s why I founded spiritmommy.com – to wildly love yourself
and your child, through yoga, meditation, conscious parenting and healthy eating. I
believe there is something poetic about wild, honest kindness in mothers and children.
