my craft. After reflecting upon the most salient factors of my life
that influence my work, I can attribute the development to a few key
points. The first and most natural, is the increased understanding
of self that comes with maturity. As I’ve aged I’ve become more
honest with myself about who I am and what I like. The second is
my increasing competency regarding the technical aspects of the
craft. Photography is a very technologically demanding form of
art. It requires not just a natural sense of spatial reasoning and
artistic interpretation, but a learned knowledge of the properties
of light, colour, and camera specific machinations. The third and

s a photographer, the concept of finding your voice
is one of the most difficult hurdles you have to
overcome. The idea of a ‘voice’ in itself is so broad and
enigmatic that it can be difficult to explain. Yet, when
you observe the works of history’s great visual artists:
Basquiat, Sebastião Salgado, Fan Ho, Gordon Parks, Salvador Dali,
etc., you immediately get a sense of who they are and what they
want their work to portray.
I’ve worked hard to cultivate my own voice over the years and I’ve
seen it become increasingly more pronounced as I develop within
