ness, color supports the style of my
paintings. I use red in all its shades as

“If I only painted in monochrome or
in shades of gray,” she continues, “my
paintings wouldn’t have this power

Sometimes Memmler will change the
color of a fl ower to emphasize its
character. “Th e color brings out the
