The first private pop up yoga studio for weary passengers opens in Denver airport
A
pop up yoga studio and shop has been on show at Denver International
Airport in recent months offering travellers quick classes before they jet off.
The new temporary studio is for use by passengers in Concourse A and
boasts a selection of travel and wellness items for sale from top yoga brands.
The ‘Yoga on the Fly’ (yogaonthefly.com) outlet is the idea of Elizabeth
Feinstone and Avery Westlund, two yoginis who met each other while teaching on a retreat
in Nicaragua. Denver is their first airport location.
They hope to improve the health and wellness for travellers en route by offering guided
yoga, meditation and breathwork in serene, private studios at airports around the world.
Quick classes on offer include an eight minute alternate nostril breathing session for
those in a dash, or a 20 minute vinyasa flow for those wanting a more lively stretch.
There are no instructors or formal classes as such: the studio offers private mini studio
rooms and yoga mats, with sessions offered via instructional videos on iPads and wireless
headphones. Sessions cost from $15 to $60, depending on the length of time in the studio.
The company is billing itself as the ‘first-to-market private airport yoga studio’, although
airport-based yoga rooms have now been around for a few years in select locations.
San Francisco opened the first yoga room in its airport back in 2012, with more following.
Naturally, we think it’s the best way to counter all the stress of international travel and
flying. Watch out for more Yoga on the Fly pop up studios near you.
