YOGA FOR BEGINNERS

THOUGHTS: Your mind is going to wander, and that
is normal. When this happens, just let the thoughts
be. Don’t put any judgment on them or try to change
them. Let them pass and bring your attention back to
the breath or the point of focus that is established in
the meditation.

BREATH: Focusing on the breath is a great way to stay in
the present. However, the breath in meditation is not
meant to be forced or controlled. Notice your breath as it
is and observe.

LENGTH AND FREQUENCY: It is best to meditate daily. If
you can commit to 15 minutes a day, that would be ideal.
Over time your practice will increase in length, but for
now just make a daily commitment, even if it’s for only
a couple of minutes at a time. The benefits of meditation
are cumulative, so whatever you can do is going to help
you achieve results.
