Prayers from the Old and
New Testament
The Morning Office
Preparation
Praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed
us from heaven with every spiritual blessing in Christ.^ He chose us in
him before the creation of the world to be holy and blameless in his
sight. In love he planned to adopt us, through Jesus Christ. This was
his pleasure and purpose – to the praise of his glorious grace, which
he has freely given us in the One he loves.^1
Heal me, Lord, and I shall be healed; save me and I shall be saved; for
you are my praise.^2
The Psalm(s)
Glory to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Spirit, as it was in
the beginning, is now and shall be for ever. Amen.
The word of God
Lord Jesus Christ, I come to you to hear your words; teach me to act
on them. Help me to build my house wisely on your sure foundation
and so be unshaken in sudden storms. Save me from the folly of
disobedience which can only lead to complete ruin.^3
