NOTES
The stitches for the steek are always
worked with both colours, alternating
them, with the first and last stitches of the
steek purled and the rest worked as knit
stitches. On those rounds when only one

colour dominance remains the same
throughout. Usually the yarn colour held
at the bottom then not being worked will
appear the most dominant.

DARIO TUBIANA enjoys bringing
his modern aesthetic to traditional
Icelandic lopapeysa yoked sweaters,
and his latest design is a comfortable
cardigan for men. It’s knitted using
Léttlopi, a pure Icelandic wool, which
gives a warm, sturdy fabric; it comes in a
wide range of colours, and offers great
value for money. The body and sleeves
are knitted in the round, then joined
to work the yoke. Finally, a column of
steek stitches is cut open to separate the
fronts, and button bands are knitted on.
