A Journey Into Yin Yoga

xviii INTRODUCTION

at the more subtle energetic aspects of the body. The “meat and potatoes” of
the book details the science of what happens when we do a yin practice. We
will also explore more than 50 yin postures and counter stretches, explaining
their benefits, contraindications, alignment points, modifications, and their
suggested duration. The book concludes with chapters on special breathing
exercises and meditations. I’ve also included 5 important yang sequences,
and 10 thematic yin sequences that students can do at home and teachers
can draw from for their own classes. What’s mine is yours. Lastly, we finish
our journey together with final thoughts of “yinspiration”!
My intention is that this book provides much more than a textbook expe-
rience. Throughout these pages are stories, quotes, and conversations with
experts to enhance the teachings. My hope is that your learning experience
will be exciting and enjoyable. I am both honored and excited to be your
guide as we now journey into this wonderful world of yin yoga!
