As we move into the month of November, the cold winds begin to blow, autumn is coming to
an end and winter starts to creep slowly in. As temperatures and seasons change, we need
to bring more warmth into our lives. A lovely way to do this is by using essential oils.
Use sweet marjoram oil (origanum majorna) this month. Marjoram oil is a rich, sweet
warming and comforting oil made from the flowering heads of the plant and the name
comes from the Greek meaning ‘joy of the mountains’.
To increase your inner fire during the colder months, mix a couple of drops of marjoram
oil with one tablespoon of olive oil and rub in a clockwise direction over your manipura
chakra and let the essential oil help fan the flames of your inner fire and increase agni.
Marjoram is highly aromatic and brings much needed warmth into the body whilst also
strengthening the mind.
Place just a couple of drops in a diffuser, mix with a couple of drops of orange oil to help
tone down the richness of the oil, and let the marjoram oil fill your space and room with warm,
spicy aromas that will soothe the body and strengthen the mind, releasing any anxiety.
It’s also good to use before pranayama or meditation as marjoram oil helps increase
mental clarity and reawaken the mind. So, try using this powerful oil this month and fill
November with its comforting warmth.
Avoid using when pregnant.
