other and daughter actresses, Goldie Hawn and Kate Hudson, are teaming
up in support of the MindUP (mindup.org) charity initiative.
MindUP is a a non-profit dedicated to helping children develop the
mental fitness necessary to thrive in school and in life.
It was created in 2003 by Goldie Hawn in response to the global
epidemic of stress, depression and suicide facing young people today.
As part of the collaboration, her daughter Kate Hudson’s active-lifestyle brand, Fabletics
(fabletics.com), is to launch a global capsule collection in support of the foundation.
The new collection includes limited-edition outfits, with 50% of net proceeds donated
to the charity. The collection is inspired by Goldie Hawn’s personal style with a nod to the
MindUP mission of mindful meditation.
The collection’s colour palette is soft and calming, with a custom-designed lotus flower
mandala print, a symbol often used in meditation.
Health and wellness have long been an integral part of the actress’s life.
“Movement is vitally important,” says Hawn. “When our bodies are in motion, our minds
are more at rest, we become more balanced all around.”
The funds raised will be used to provide scholarships for schools and teachers to expand
the MindUP curriculum to new communities, benefitting children around the globe.
It is already taught in schools across 12 different countries and has helped over six million children.
The MindUP programme brings together various strands of neuroscience, positive
psychology, mindfulness and social-emotional learning.
“My mum is incredibly passionate about the welfare of children, which is what led her to
start MindUP,” says Hudson. “The curriculum helps children understand and manage their
emotions through the workings of their brain, which will ultimately raise a generation of kids
who have the power to create their own happiness and thrive in today’s world.”
