UK: Retirement yoga
An exclusive retirement village is being
planned for Kensington in London that will
boast its very own yoga studio for seniors.
The idea is being worked on by landowner
Leopard UK Kensington Propco Limited and
will include other treats such as a cinema
and a wine room. The company hopes to
develop a 142-flat complex on the former
site of the Heythrop College theology school
in Kensington Square to provide pensioners
with flexible and adaptable care – in style. Plans also include a spa, a pilates room,
restaurants, a library, a café and a hair salon. But don’t get too excited folks: the posh
pads are expected to cost around £156,000 a year to rent.

Finland: Money talks
Billionaire yoga pants guru Chip Wilson – the
founder of Canada’s Lululemon Athletica, a
brand synonymous to all modern era yogis – is
rumoured to be joining a Chinese consortium
looking to take over Finland’s Amer Sports.
The Finnish group’s portfolio includes Salomon
mountain sports gear, Wilson tennis rackets,
Atomic skis and even the iconic Louisville
Slugger baseball bats. The estimated deal is
worth around €5.6 billion and is led by China’s
Anta Sports Products. Business news agency
Bloomberg reported that Wilson is looking to
take a 20% stake in the acquisition.

India: Holistic healthcare
India has laid the foundation stone for its new All India Institute of Ayurveda, Yoga
and Naturopathy in Goa. The new site will become an extension of the All India
Institute in the capital, New Delhi, and include a 100 bed hospital with specialist
units for ayurvedic treatments and yoga therapy. It will also cater for hundreds of
students every year offering undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD degrees. At the
stone laying ceremony, Shripad Naik, the Minister of Ayurveda, Yoga and Naturopathy,
Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy (AYUSH), said the project would be a medical hub
and attract visitors from across the world.
