Yoga Calm yogacalm.org Yoga Calm provides yoga teacher training for grades
pre-K to 12 through a youth instructor certification
program, adult certification program, and yoga for
seniors instructor certificate. Founded by Lynea Gillen,
MS, RYT, it also offers therapeutic workshops. Yoga
Calm has partnered with institutions to provide graduate
credits, clock hours, and CEUs. Some courses and
certifications are offered online. The program sells Mindful
Moments Cards to encourage self-reflection as well as
other resources. The founders authored Yoga Calm for
Children: Educating Heart, Mind, and Body (Gillen &
Gillen, 2007). Research specific to the program includes
Thomas (2014).
Yoga Child yogachild.net Yoga Child is a grades pre-K to 12 yoga teacher training
program and yoga provider. Developed by Gail Silver,
RCYT, E-RYT, JD (a former Child Advocate attorney),
the program offers training in both mindfulness and
yoga. Yoga Child provides in-school classes for students
and on-site trainings for staff. The founder is author
of the children’s books, Anh’s Anger (Silver, 2009),
Steps and Stones (Silver, 2007), and Peace, Bugs, and
Understanding (Silver, 2014).
YOGA ed. yogaed.com YOGA ed. offers trainings for teaching yoga to grades
pre-K to high school (and universities). Their extensive
web page links to training programs, resources (for
professionals, parents, homeschools, non-profits),
videos, a link to a research white paper on the benefits
of yoga, and more. There are professional development
workshops, specialized trainings (e.g., trauma-sensitive
training), and online courses. The program was studied
by Khalsa, Hickey-Schultz, Cohen, Steiner, and Cope
(2012). Researchers randomly assigned adolescents to
YOGA ed. or physical education over 11 weeks. Students
showed improvements in anger control and fatigue/
inertia.
Yoga Foster http://www.yogafoster

Founded by Nicole Cardoza, Yoga Foster is a nonprofit
organization that empowers school teachers with yoga
and mindfulness techniques for the classroom. Training is
provided free of charge to teachers at underserved schools.
Yoga Foster provides online training, curriculum, and
resources.

Enriching
Schools
yogainschool.org Yoga Enriching Schools teaches the techniques and
tools of yoga in the public school system (grades K to 12).
The program is based on Kundalini Yoga and offers yoga
as an elective, physical education, and/or after-school
program.
