practice permits the brain and body to sequence movements and
retain those sequences for future use. In addition, the pairing of
speech with yoga movements, such as simultaneously chanting
words and tapping legs or striking a “singing” bowl, increases
the learning and retention of motor plans and programs by
utilizing the auditory, visual, tactile, and/or kinesthetic modalities.
The resource tables in Appendices 2–8 of this book contain
information on yoga books, card decks, games, CDs, DVDs, and
websites to enhance motor planning for speech in children.
