Cut
Measurements include ¼ ̋ seam allow-
ances. Border strips will be pieced and
cut to exact length needed. You may
want to make them longer to allow for
piecing variations.

6 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF - Medium blue eagles print
6 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF
6 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF for border 2 - Tan stars, light blue eagles, tan words,
red stars, and multicolored stars print
cut from each:
4 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF - Flag print
8 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF - Navy tone-on-tone
2 strips 22½ ̋ x WOF
6 strips 3¾ ̋ x WOF for border 1 - Red tone-on-tone
8 strips 2½ ̋ x WOF for binding
Sew
1 Referring to Diagram I, join strips to
make band as shown. Make 2 bands
total.
2 Fold each band in half as shown in
Diagram II. Sew short ends together
to create a tube.
3 Working with 1 tube at a time, position
tube on a fl at rotary cutting surface.
Referring to Cutting Chart and Dia-
gram III, cut tube at width shown and
then cut at indicated place to create
each unit (Diagram IV).
4 Note: Refer to Assembly Diagram for
following steps, watching unit place-
ment carefully. Sew units together to
make quilt center.
5 Refer to Borders in Quilt Basics. Join
navy border 1 strips and cut to sizes
shown in Assembly Diagram. Match-
ing centers and ends, sew border 1
side strips to quilt. Repeat to add
border 1 top and bottom strips.
6 In the same manner, join border 2 to
quilt.
7 Layer, baste, and quilt. Patti machine
quilted a wave motif across the quilt
surface. Bind the quilt.
