Spider – April 2019

(Marcin) #1
As Hogwobble exited the cafeteria,
the students looked glum or outraged.
One by one, they finished lunch and
filed out, each grabbing a beanie
from the appropriate bin. Steaming
with annoyance, Doodlebug jammed
his on his head. Every one of them
was hideous!
One class had beanies with bows
and pink, purple, and orange swirls all
over. Another grade’s

beanies had tiny toy cherries and
bananas sewn on top. Other grades
had better or worse patterns and
ornaments. Only the teachers
seemed to be having fun.
After school, a bunch of kids
gathered outside, moaning and
complaining—but all still wearing
their beanies.
“After today, I’m not doing it!”
Dandelion groused to the crowd.
“Me neither,” Sherwin agreed now
that he’d seen what he had to wear.
Place all your liquids,
laptops, belts, shoes,
and stingers in the tray.

I'm not one to
complain but this
drives me nuts.

You roused — grumbled and
complained — about it last
time we flew, Spider.

You must remove
your hat, sir.
But ziss is my
head! I no remove!
