if that was not enough, we may

be able to retire the 1/48 scale

Monogram A-26 Invader as ICM

have announced a whole selection

of this light bomber including

glass and gun noses from both the

Second World War and Korea. Let’s

hope they can update the moulds

to produce a Vietnam B-26K in the

future. The Invader’s release will

also be supported by two decal

sheets covering the types World

War 2 operations and in Korea.

Hobbyboss in the past have

announced an impressive

release schedule but sometimes

many years pass before the kits

release. This year we only have

a few truly new announcements

as well as a few held over from

previous years including the

long-anticipated U-2R, which

was announced at Nuremberg

in 2014. The most important

is at last a manufacturer has

realized that we do not have

a state-of-the-art kit of the

Boeing Osprey in 1/48 scale. A

type which has been in service

for 11 years with over half of the

outstanding orders delivered to

the US Air Force and US Marines

plus the only foreign user Japan.

Moving down to 1/144 scale

we have a range of kits all based

on the Antonov An-12 “Cub” let’s

hope we see these before 2026.

I have always wanted a 1/48

scale IL-28 Beagle as it saw

widespread use with Russia,

China and many other Soviet

Bloc countries. But until now

the only option has been the

beautiful but expensive HpH

example. At Nuremberg we

saw the fuselage sprues of

the new Bobcat model kit

and if the rest of the kit is

just as good it looks like my

prayers have been answered.
