American Airlines updated its additional new routes with the
Boeing 737 MAX 8 aircraft, when the airline was to tentatively resume
operations in September 2019 and early October 2019 but we are not
yet listing them as the MAX is not likely to enter service before
November.
The carrier has also updated the Airbus A321neo schedule, which
now sees Hawaii service moving forward to 4Q19. Previously filed from
29Mar20, the A321neo is now scheduled to serve following Hawaii
routes from 03Oct19:


  • Phoenix – Honolulu

  • Phoenix – Kahului

  • Phoenix – Kona
    The Phoenix – Lihue A321neo service remains scheduled from
    29Mar20. AA also scheduled a one‑time A321neo service for Los
    Angeles – Honolulu market on 14Aug19.
    The airline has announced its planned final MD80 Series scheduled
    services, set on 04Sep19 as AA80, Dallas/Ft. Worth to Chicago O’Hare.
    Based on schedule listing from the OAG, the first appearance of an
    MD80 schedule under aircraft code “M80” was dated February 1984,
    however, listings for aircraft code “D98” dated from May 1983,
    although the actual launch date, routes and frequencies varies.
    American Airlines has also commenced a codeshare partnership
    with Cathay Dragon, covering seven routes operated by the latter via
    Hong Kong. Codeshare routes from 11Jul19 are as follows:

  • Hong Kong – Chiang Mai, Hong Kong – Da Nang, Hong Kong –
    Dhaka, Hong Kong – Hanoi, Hong Kong – Kuala Lumpur, Hong

    American Airlines has released service changes for Vancouver, as
    selected routes are converted to seasonal service, instead of year‑
    round. The affected routes include the following:

  • Chicago O’Hare – Vancouver: Service suspended from 04Sep19 to
    03Jun20. Currently served 1 daily with 737‑800

  • Phoenix – Vancouver: Service suspended from 21Nov19 to
    03Jun20. Currently served 1 daily with 737‑800
    American Airlines has also extended service cancellations on selected
    domestic routes, previously scheduled from 06Jun19 to 19Aug19. The
    latest revisions are as follows:

  • New York JFK – San Diego: Service cancelled until 02Nov19

  • New York JFK – Seattle: Service cancelled until 02Nov19

  • New York JFK – Washington Reagan: Service cancelled until
    03Sep19

  • Philadelphia – San Antonio: Service cancelled until 02Nov19.
    The oneWorld member earlier this month also cancelled Dallas/Ft.
    Worth – Oakland route, in effect from 06Jul19 to 02Nov19.


ANA All Nippon Airways [NH/ANA] [Japan] has reconfigured 12
B77Ws to amend seating to First Class 8, Business 64, Premium
Economy 24 & Economy 116 for a total of 212 seats‑to be used from
02Aug19 on HND‑LHR route.
The carrier has held its inaugural flight for the A380 “Flying Honu”,
departing Honolulu for Tokyo Narita. ANA plans to double the number
of seats connecting Honolulu with Tokyo by 2020.
ANA All Nippon Airways plans to carry out two regular flights that
will connect Tokyo to Moscow and Vladivostok in summer 2020.

ANA and Etihad expanded their codeshare partnership, including
services to Saudi Arabia, as well as selected routes within Japan, from
mid‑May 2019. The codeshare routes from 20May19 (approximate, or
earlier) are as follows:

  • Abu Dhabi – Dammam, Abu Dhabi – Jeddah, Abu Dhabi – Riyadh
    ANA is adjusting operational aircraft on selected international routes
    from Osaka Kansai in the second‑half of summer 2019 season. Planned
    changes include the following:

  • Osaka Kansai – Dalian eff 01Jul19: A320neo replaces 737‑700

  • Osaka Kansai – Hong Kong eff 01Oct19: 767‑300ER replaces 737‑
    700


Alitalia and InterJet have launched a reciprocal codeshare
partnership, covering services between Italy and Mexico, as well as
domestic routes within Mexico, effective from 28May19.

    Chetumal, Mexico City – Ciudad del Carmen, Mexico City – Ciudad

Alliance Airlines [Australia] is likely to achieve a profit (before tax_
for the year ending 30June19 in excess of US$22.4 million, up 25%
year‑on‑year.
Alliance Airlines plans to add two F70s and one F100 to its Darwin
base and recruit additional staff in response to growing demand.
The airline has entered an agreement with Helvetic Airways
(Switzerland) for the purchase of five F100s, along with spare engines,
parts and tooling.


Amapola Flyg [Sweden] plans to continue flying the F50 for 10 more
years, with no plans to expand the fleet in the meantime. The carrier
is planning to obtain IOSA certification and sell five aircraft in Africa.


Amazon Prime [US] has announced a partnership with GECAS (US) to
lease an additional 15 B737‑800Fs.
Amazon Air pilots say low pay and benefits are leading to higher
turnover and potential safety issues. Amazon has threatened to
change its “allocation” of cargo if the issues are not resolved.


Amazonas started E90 operations on 01Aug19, and is to introduce
new routes from Santa Cruz de la Sierra to Rio & Iguacu Falls. A change
of name is likely.


American Airlines [AA/AAL] [US] is extending cancellations for the
B737 MAX through to 02Nov19.
The carrier estimates that the cancellations in 2Q19 negatively
impacted pre‑tax income by approximately US$185 million, as the
B737 MAX grounding led to 7,800 cancelled flights.
The airline has filed additional B757 operations from Charlotte to
Sint Maarten during winter 2019/20, replacing B737‑800. A B757 will
also operate on the Dallas/Ft. Worth – St. Thomas route.
American Airlines was forced to suspend flights from Oakland to
Dallas/Fort Worth until 04Sep19, as a result of B737 MAX groundings.
American Airlines returned its 14 weekly US‑China Zone 1
combination frequencies allocated for Chicago – Beijing and Chicago



  • Shanghai services, effective from 28Jun19.
    American Airlines has announced a series of US College football
    flights: New Orleans‑Austin (out 06Sep19, return 07Sep19), DCA‑South
    Bend, Ind (out 27Sep19, return 28Sep19), ORD‑South Bend (out 12Oct19,
    return 13Oct19), Birmingham‑College Station, TX (CLL) (out 11Oct19,
    return 12Oct19), DCA‑South Bend (out 01Nov19, return 02Nov19).
    American Airlines will operate special services for the Consumer
    Electronics in Las Vegas. It has also applied to US DOT to operate from
    Miami – Santiago de Cuba from 03May20 and will also start DFW‑
    Durango, Mexico services on 06Jun20.
