Regional Express [Australia] is mulling the establishment of a new
base in Darwin as Airnorth (Australia) faces an uncertain future
following the bankruptcy announcement of its parent.
The carrier has praised an audit’s findings which gave the airline
the all‑clear for safety by aviation watchdog, CASA.
Regional Express has slammed claims that staff were bullied out
of raising concerns about safety defects. The staff urged CASA to strip
the airline of its license to maintain its planes – which would effectively
ground its whole fleet.

Regional Express [Colombia] plans to operate as a standalone airline,
with 23 new routes by the end of 2019, carrying about 1.7 and 2 million
passengers.

Regourd Aviation [France] has been rebranded as Amelia.

Rossiya Airlines [R4/SDM] [Russia] intends to recover almost US$8
million from the Saratov Airlines (Russia) relating to the sublease of
An‑148s.
Rossiya has resumed flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo to
Denpasar with B777‑300ER, after the route suspension in May 2019. It
also resumed flights from Moscow Sheremetyevo to Colombo in early
July 2019.

Qantas Freight (Australia) plans to renew its narrowbody freighter
fleet, consisting of four B737‑300SFs, serials 23478, 23486, 23488 and
23490, and one B737‑400SF, serial 24796.


Qatar Airways [QR/QTR] [Qatar] and Boeing have finalised a
significant order for five B777Fs, worth US$1.8 billion at list prices.
Qatar Airways and GE Aviation (US) have signed multiple
agreements, valued at US$5 billion. The carrier selected the Genx
engine to power its 30 new B787‑9s along with a TrueChoice Flight
Hour agreement to cover the MROof the engines. Qatar also signed a
TrueChoice Flight Hour agreement for MRO services on its GE9X engine
fleet that will power 60 B777Xs.
The airline is reportedly the sole foreign company to have sent in
a proposal for the takeover of Malaysia Airlines.
