Sunwing Airlines [WG/SWG] [Canada] says that due to B737 MAX 8
grounding it has taken measures to optimise its operations by
investing in additional flying capacity and re‑configuring its schedule
without this aircraft type until further notice.
Sunwing will launch direct flights from Montreal to Havana on 13
December 2019 until 13 March 2020.

Surinam Airways [PY/SLM] [Surinam] Executive Officer Gerard Lau
has been suspended by the board after entering into an agreement for
a B777 aircraft. The government reportedly preferred a B787.

Swift Air [US] has been acquired by iAero Group.

Cathay Pacific and Lufthansa Group are expanding their codeshare
partnership, covering services between Hong Kong and Europe. From
17Jul19, the new codeshare routes include the following:

TAAG Angola [DT/DTA] [Angola] has had its European Air space ban
removed by the EU. It has ordered six DH8Ds.

Tajik Air [7J/TJK] [Tajikistan] is being sued by Skayroud Leasing
(Lithuania) for US$20 million for the late delivery of a leased aircraft.
The carrier denies all the charges. Tajik Air was sued by aviation
regulators in Russia over a US$555,000 debt for air navigation services.

TAME [EQ/TAE] [Ecuador] will not be liquidated, but restructured,
clarifies the government, which aims to introduce a strategic investor
for the airline.

Sriwijaya Air [Indonesia] has closed six routes to improve efficiency
on the back of heavy losses of its parent.


Sri Lankan Airlines [UL/ALK] [Sri Lanka] plans to re‑negotiate
aircraft leases and is lobbying the government for concessions to the
airline’s fuel bill and tax burden as it looks to cut costs. The A350 swap
to A330‑900s will still move forward while the remaining fleet plan is
revisited.
SriLankan Airlines still plans to resume Paris and Frankfurt to its
network even after the Easter Sunday bombings hit bookings by 20
points. Paris was set to begin in 2019, and Frankfurt in 2020.
SriLankan Airlines has been named as the world’s most punctual
airline by flighstats.com with 90.75% on time, LATAM was second &
ANA third.

Star Air [India] expects to operate from Hindon Military Airport near
Delhi to Jamnagar & Kaleburagi by end June.


Star Peru [Peru] has signed an interline agreement with Aeromexico,
thus connecting their networks. The carrier is adding three Q400s in
early August 2019 for placement on new domestic routes.


StarLux Airlines [UV/SUA] [Taiwan] has received approval on 11
regular scheduled routes and two charter routes. The airline is also
awaiting approval for routes to Vietnam. Due to a limited number of
available aircraft, it would first focus on Southeast Asian routes.
StarLux Airlines will fly to three destinations – Southeast Asia or Macau



  • when it begins operations in January 2020, with three of the 10
    leased A320neos to be delivered by the first day of operations.

aviation revenue up 53% to US$50.4 million for fiscal year ended

SundAir [SR/SDR] [Germany] has taken first of two ex‑Sky Airline
A319s, registrations D‑ASSK and D‑ASMF. It is wet leasing one A319
from Just‑Us Air (Romania) for the short‑term.


SunExpress [XQ/SXS] [Turkey] is wet leasing 11 A320s from Avion
Express (Lithuania), up from five, with all in operation by June 2019
end. The carrier has leased BAe146‑200 D‑AZFR (2108) from WDL to
replace a damaged ATR and will operate Athens to Heraklion, Santorini,
and Chania.
SunExpress leased Air Belgium A340 aircraft to support its
operation to/from Antalya, based on OAG schedule updates as of
26May19. The list shows the A340 operating on selected routes on
limited‑time basis.
