Who doesn’t love a delicious
pie? If you’re in Barbados, get
your hands on one of the fi nest
from local favourite, Tiki Pies.
Maegan Layne started
the business in 2009, when
friends started ordering her
homemade New Zealand-style
pies so they could freeze them
for quick dinners. Her fi rst
retail outlet was at Brighton
Farmers’ Market (where she
still has a stall), followed by a
small shop in Bayside Plaza. As
the business became more and
more successful, Maegan’s New
Zealander husband Mike gave
up his job to join her.
“Work begins at 5am every
day,” said Barbados-born
Maegan. “All our pies are baked
fresh. Our most popular are egg,
bacon and cheese; sweet curry
chicken; and steak, mushroom
