researchhasindicatedthattheSolRallyhasamassive
effectonthe
island’seconomy,bringinginaroundUS$2millionduringtherallyeachyear.That’sthankstotheestimated
350 friendsandfamilymemberswho
travelwiththe
participants,plustheboostintourism- around4,000
touristnights- which
iswelcomeduringtheisland’sslowerseason.“Overthepast
20 orsoyears,
ithasbecome
abucket-listeventforcompetitors,particularlyfrommainlandEurope,”Bradfordpointsout.“Thecombinationoftherelaxed‘club’atmospherewithanevent
that,thesedays,
isruntothehigheststandards,playsamajorpart.WheneverIamataneventintheUK,SolRallyBarbadosisatopicofconversation;wordofmouthisamassivelyimportantwayinwhichtheeventhasgrown.Ithasnowhostedapproaching^500overseascompetitors,manyofwhomcomebacktimeandtimeagain.”
