plunge with Miley. “They never liked her,”
says a source. Liam has always been close to
his parents and brothers Luke and Chris, both
of whom are married with kids. “They don’t
think Miley has the same morals as Liam,”
says the insider. They also think Miley’s fa-
mous parents, Billy Ray and Tish, are “trashy
and crazy,” says a source, “and just encourage

Before finally throwing in the towel, Miley and
Liam tried couples counseling. “It was a last
resort,” says an insider, “but by that point, noth-
ing could save the marriage.” Their problems
were insurmountable, and neither was willing
to bend far enough to meet the other. “They’re
two very different people who can’t change
who they are,” says the source. “That’s the real
reason she hooked up with Kaitlynn.”
Liam is now paying the price. “He accepts
he’s not perfect,” says an insider, “but feels like
Miley showed a different side of herself once
they got married — a really selfish side.” But
he was in it for the long haul. “Liam didn’t take
their marriage casually; it was a real commit-
ment for him,” says the source. “He thought
he and Miley would be together forever. He’s
