The couple have split and reconciled a
number of times since getting together
in 2013, returning to each other thanks
to both their shared passion and their
connection with each other’s children.
But their relationship has often left fans
wondering: Are they or aren’t they?
At an Oscars afterparty this year, the
actor announced to a crowd, “I’m single”
— but in May, the couple attended the Met
Gala together in a rare public appearance
for the very private pair. This summer,
Katie’s been frequently spotted solo
with Suri in New York, and Jamie’s been
promoting his actress daughter Corinne’s
Hollywood debut in the film 47 Meters
Down: Uncaged.
Historically, Jamie and Katie “have
always wound up in each other’s arms
because of a white-hot connection and an
extremely powerful friendship,” a friend
close to the relationship tells Star. “They’re
wildly attracted to each other and it’ll be
tough on both of them to part ways.”
In fact, their fiery connection is why
Katie’s continued to take the Oscar winner
back over and over again. An insider tells
Star, “They’ve been on and off for a while,
but Jamie always manages to talk Katie
into giving him another chance. Friends
are hoping she doesn’t take him back
this time around.” She hung in there for a
while, hoping Jamie would finally man
up and make things official, but this time,
sources say, she’s done for good.
“It’s reached a point where she’s had
to draw a line and make a decision based
on her head as well as her heart,” an
insider added. “The last thing she wants
is to pressure Jamie or make anything
uncomfortable. She’s ripping off the
Band-Aid and moving on. Of course,
it’s painful as hell, but a clean break is
what’s best for both of them.” ★
