up.‘Wemakea goodteam,’saysJoelle.
Oncethewallsweredownand
thenewkitchenandbathroominstalled,
decoratingwasa simpleaffair.Joelle
wantedthewallstobebrilliantwhite
andthewoodworka softbiscuittone
thatchangeswiththelight.The
woodenfloorboardsweresandedand
whitewashed,thenlacqueredtoachieve
thebeautifulpalesheen,whilethe
furnitureis equallyrelaxedand
informal.Artworkandphotographs

ensurethefamily’sweekendescape
feelslikehome.‘Weareeventhinking
ofmovingdownherepermanently,’
Joellesays.‘Itis sucha friendly
community,andthequalityoflightis
wonderful.Everythingweneedis on
our doorstep right outside the flat.’
