theproperty’sGeorgianarchitecture,Emily

wasnotafraidtoincludea numberof

contemporaryelementsinherscheme,such

asa gilt-framedcoffeetable,modern-style

lampsanda subtlypatternedruginher

sittingroom.‘I believeyouhavetorespond

totheenvironmentyou’rein,’shesays.‘I

wanted the apartment to retain its classic

quality,becauseit wasbuiltinthe1800s,

butI alsowantedit tofeelfresh.’

jobhastakenheraroundtheworld.Many

piecesintheflat,suchasherartcollection,

weregatheredonhertravels,orweregifts

fromfriendsandfamily.‘I’vebeeninspired

byalltheplacesI’vebeento,including

Dorset,wheremyfamilylive,’shesays.‘I

knewthestyleI wantedfortheflatandnow

it’s finished, I feel like I’ve achieved it.’
