Julia Donaldson’s magical
tale The Gruffalo starts a
UK tour from Wednesday.
Join a little mouse on a
daring hunt for hazelnuts in
the deep, dark wood. He
meets hungry creatures on
his way – but will his tale of
a terrifying gruffalo keep
him from their dinner
plates? With songs and
monstrous fun for children
aged three and over, the
musical is at Kingston’s
Rose Theatre in London
until June 2. Including a
10-week run in the West
End, it tours until November.
See gruffalolive.com.

It’s time to get back to nature
with 30 Days Wild. This
month-long challenge from The
Wildlife Trusts urges people to
go outdoors in June and get
close to the natural world. Sign
up for a guide full of stickers,
seeds and ideas for helping
wildlife and head off to the Big
Wild Weekend on June 15 and
16 for walks, crafts and
activities suitable for people
of all ages. To find Big Wild
Weekend activities in your
area, go to wildlifetrusts.org.

Beat the crowds and book tickets to El Dorado Festival for a weekend
of music and merriment in the Herefordshire countryside. From July 5
to 7, Eastnor Castle Deer Park will host the adults-only festival with its
exciting acrobatics and party games, wacky workshops and disco hits
from Kool & the Gang, Andy C and Joey Negro. Weekend camping
tickets cost about £156, which covers hot showers, flushing loos and
a 24-hour reception service. See eldoradofestival.com.

Let the kids walk and talk with
the animals this half term
when Mini Keepers returns to
ZSL London Zoo. Children and
parents can go behind the
scenes to take part in a range
of animal activities in a
special, safe keeper zone.
Kids can make lunch for their
favourite animals, try training
meerkats and get their hands
dirty by mucking out with an
expert team. Mini Keepers
runs until next Sunday. For
information, see zsl.org.
