JARROD BEWLEY
GRASSTRACK
Straight away I
noticed the power
was good, nice and
smooth through the
rev range. I used
the map switch to fi nd the power
I liked, and that was in the Power
mode, it just picked up better off
the bottom. The rear brake was
very touchy and I found it locked
very easily. Overall I didn’t mind it
on the grasstrack.
ENDUROCROSS
I found it had good power but I just
wasn’t comfortable going off some
of the bigger logs. The rear brake
was just too “on” or “off” to give
me control and when I don’t feel
to have control, I get hesitant with
the obstacles.
EXTREME ENDURO
I felt best when standing on the
Beta, but my issue was still the
rear brake being too touchy.
The engine was very nice on the
extreme track, and the suspension
was reasonable, it just lacked the
feel of some of the others.
JOHN PAYTEN
GRASSTRACK
I struggled to gel
with the Beta,
the back-end was
always really loose,
and no matter
what changes were made by the
mechanic it just didn’t feel right.
ENDUROCROSS
Once again I struggled on the Beta.
I couldn’t fi nd my balance, so kept
making mistakes. Pretty sure the
suspension kept putting me off as
it didn’t want to soak things up. If
the suspension was more forgiving
I’d say it would be a much better
bike for endurocross.
EXTREME ENDURO
I didn’t mind the Beta, if the
suspension was more forgiving I
would have liked it a lot more. I did
notice the low seat was handy in
tricky situations.
OLLY MALONE
GRASSTRACK
I just didn’t gel with
it on the grasstrack,
it felt like it was
pushing a lot in the
off-camber turns.
I remember Betas being soft, but
this one was kicking me around a
lot. I did like the engine, it’s very
responsive but vibrated a bit. The
map switch options were great with
a big difference between maps.
ENDUROCROSS
It felt small and even with me
being tall I’ll still take a small bike
in these conditions any day. It also
felt very narrow, with a nice, light
clutch pull. Being able to switch to
the Rain mode, made it nice and
mellow to ride. On this track the
Beta was fi ne for me.
EXTREME ENDURO
I was surprised with the Beta. It
wasn’t as easy as I remember them
being in these conditions. I was
getting a harsh feeling especially
from the ZF Sachs shock. That just
made it hard work. I got to use the
grab handles while stuck, and they
worked great.
AARON VINCENT
GRASSTRACK
The Beta engine
was more than
powerful enough, I
just didn’t gel with
the bike in ruts
or on the powdery ground. The
suspension just didn’t follow the
ground like I wanted.
ENDUROCROSS
I really struggled on the Beta. It
had a heavy feeling that made it
slow to react. The suspension was
defi nitely the weak link for me, it
just didn’t give me confi dence.
EXTREME TRACK
I like the Beta engine. It is strong
and comes on smooth, but I really
struggled with the feeling from
the shock. It just kept defl ecting
off rocks and kicking me sideways,
which made it diffi cult on the
off-cambers.
