  1. PUTTING A BLACK FRAME AROUND
    YOUR IMAGE PREVIEW
This is one of those features that Adobe kind of snuck into Adobe Cam-
era Raw (ACR) while nobody was looking: You can choose to have a
thin black stroke around your image, or not. You choose it by Right-
clicking on the blank canvas area outside your image and, from the
pop-up menu that appears, choose Draw Image Frame to add that black
stroke, or uncheck it to see your image from now on without it.
    44. EASY WAY TO BRIGHTEN YOUR SUBJECT’S SKIN
To brighten your subject’s skin in ACR, just head over to the HSL
Adjustments panel, click on the Luminance tab up top, and then drag
the Red and Orange sliders. Works like a charm.

  2. TWO-CLICK RESET FOR THE ADJUSTMENT BRUSH
If you use the Adjustment Brush (K) in ACR and you move a lot of
sliders, you can reset all those sliders at once in two clicks. First,
click the plus sign (+) to the right of any slider, and that resets all the
Adjustment Brush sliders to their default position except the one you
just clicked, which is set to +25 (except for Exposure, which is set
to +0.50). To get that slider set back to its default, just double-click
directly on its little slider “nub” (the button on the slider that you
drag), and it resets that slider to zero, so now everything’s set to zero.

  3. A SMOOTHER WAY TO ZOOM IN/OUT IN ACR
Here’s one to try: Right-click within your image area and from the
pop-up menu that appears, choose Scrubby Zoom. Now you can
click-and-drag with the Zoom tool (Z) within your image area, and
it will fluidly and smoothly zoom in and out by just dragging up or
    down or left and right.
    45. ADJUSTING YOUR HISTOGRAM
If you know which part of the Histogram you want to adjust in ACR,
but you’re not sure which slider in the Basic panel affects that part of
the Histogram, you can click-and-drag directly within the Histogram
itself—right on the area of the Histogram you want to affect. As you
drag it left or right, it will automatically move the slider that controls that
    part of the Histogram.
    46. HOW TO SAVE YOUR OWN CUSTOM BRUSH
    SETTINGS FOR THE ADJUSTMENT BRUSH
To set your own custom settings for
brush Size, Feather, and Flow for
the Adjustment Brush (K) in ACR,
open an image, set the sliders where
you want them to be as your new
defaults, and then instead of open-
ing the image, just click the Done
button. Now those settings are your
new defaults, and when you open
    other images, those custom settings
    will already be in place.
