Virtual Column
As a suggestion, could
you start a new section
in Maximum PC that’s
dedicated to VR gaming?
It is hard to keep track of
what is going on in this
area. This review does not
have to be long, maybe
a little column with the
latest updates on games,
headsets, from HTC,
Oculus, and so on.
Also, I have a few
more suggestions:

  1. When you print a
    screenshot of a PC monitor
    or a laptop screen, could
    you specify what game or
    location is represented? I
    am sure that many readers
    would appreciate this info.

  2. When you review a game,
    can you specify if this
    particular game is playable
    from a first-person
    perspective? Personally, I
    can’t play games that have
    only a third-person view,
so if a game has no first-
    person perspective, it’s a
    deal breaker for me.

EXECUTIVE EDITOR, ALAN
DEXTER, RESPONDS:The
initial slew of VR hardware
didn’t quite have the impact
that many of us had hoped
for, and the whole concept

seems to have been
keeping itself pretty quiet
for a while now. That said,
new hardware is on the
horizon (and, indeed, the
Oculus Quest is currently
on one of our test benches,
ready for next issue).
So, there will be some
content on the way, and
we do mention anything
interesting as and when
it arrives, but a dedicated
column or section of the
magazine would run out
of things to talk about
relatively quickly.
As for first- versus
third-person games, we’ll
try to point this out (if it
isn’t obvious enough), and
the new signposting on the
games should help. It does
have us wondering why
you don’t like third-person
games, though....

Total Removal
Don’t mail you much, as
you rarely miss a trick,
but I think you may have
missed my favorite free app
(November 2019 issue). For
“Uninstalling,” you decided
on IOBit’s Uninstaller,
with an honorable mention
of Geek Uninstaller, but
there has been a free
version of Revo Uninstaller
available for a long time

com/revo-uninstaller-
free-download/). I find
it to be very thorough in
eliminating even those
pesky files that programs
leave on your machine. Just
my two cents. –Bruce Gray

EXECUTIVE EDITOR, ALAN
DEXTER, RESPONDS:The
beauty of this sort of
feature is that it opens it up
to our readers to pitch in
with your own suggestions,
exactly as you have
done. We have used Revo
Uninstaller previously,
and have no problem
recommending it as well,
although we stand by the
suggestions in the original
feature, too—you have a lot
of options.

Libra Clarity
I read the well-written
article by Chris Lloyd
pertaining to Libra, in
the October 2019 issue. I
do have a question as to
whether I’m understanding
the box on page 48. In that
boxout, it is stated that
each founding member will
maintain a validator node.
I’m taking this to mean
that there will be 28 or
so distributed blockchain
servers/maintainers. In

other words, it will be
like bitcoin without the
speculation and mining
operations. I just want to
know whether I’m correct
in my conclusion.
–Peter Luptovic

EXECUTIVE EDITOR, ALAN
DEXTER, RESPONDS:It still
isn’t precisely clear how
it will actually work at
this stage, but that is our
understanding of things
as well—a bitcoin-like
back end, but without any
of the mining. Of course,
given the news this issue
that PayPal is pulling
out, and a few others are
considering their position
as well, it could mean that
some of the behind-the-
scenes workings may need
to change.

Congressional Error
Reading the September
issue’s “Quick Start” blurb
about Facebook’s fine, I’m
disappointed. You used
Congress as a term for the
House of Representatives,
but Congress is comprised
of both the House and
Senate. –James Breen

EXECUTIVE EDITOR, ALAN
DEXTER, RESPONDS:You’re
absolutely right. Apologies.
