Moment boasts an
unsurpassed reputation for
smartphone lenses – making
high quality optics with a metal
casing and multi-element
glass layers. The company
manufactures a wide (18mm
equivalent), telephoto (58mm),
fisheye (15mm) and anamorphic
lens for panoramic filmmaking,
but it’s the macro lens with 10x
magnification that is the most
transformative – allowing your
phone to capture those close-
up details that simply could
not be captured before.
It comes with a diffuser
that not only reduces direct
glare but doubles-up as a
simple way to achieve sharp
focus. Its one-inch height is
the perfect working distance,
which can make things tricky
with living creatures but makes
photographing flat surfaces
and textures a doddle when
rested against it.

The lenses don’t work alone,
so you’ll need to invest in a
case if you don’t already own
one for around $30 to $40 (£23
to £30). Each lens clips in with
a bayonet-style mount, giving
you a mini interchangeable
lens system. Most cases are
available in black canvas,
walnut wood or tan leather and
look as good as the lenses.
These top-notch lenses are
expensive, starting at $99,
but postage is free and so is
the 30-day return.
Each lens also
comes with
a 12-month
guarantee.

The Moment Macro lens attaches
to a slim case that’s available
for all the major phones.

Ztylus sells a range of Z-Prime
lenses that work with pretty
much any smartphone.
Each lens clips into a neatly
designed adapter that attaches
to the phone like a clamp. It’s
easy to put on and take off, as
well as being very secure. The
soft lining stops it harming the
phone, and the lenses attach
with a simple twist. It also
sports a thread so it can be
attached to a tripod or grip.
The Universal Mk II Kit
includes a macro lens with 10x
magnification, a telephoto lens
with 2x magnification and a
wideangle lens with a 100°
field of view, along with the
lens clip adapter.
Each lens features an
aluminium case with multi-
layered glass optics. A coating
helps reduce chromatic
aberration and the picture
quality is decent for the price,
although the telephoto and
wideangle optics tend to be
a little soft around the edges.
All the lenses can be bought
separately, as well as a Super
Wide Angle ($54.99) and

a Max Bokeh ($59.99).
One thing to consider is that
the clip doesn’t fit over thicker
cases. If you own an iPhone,
Ztylus also makes a case with
a magnetic adapter for $19.99.

The clamp-like clip that comes
with the Ztylus Z-Prime Universal
MK II Kit has a handy tripod thread.
