WIRELESS VIRTUAL
REALITYFor many VR is merely a stepping stone
towards augmented reality (AR), and the
patent shows a headset with a transparent
visor where the cameras beam data into the
user’s eyes, forgoing the need for a screen.
“Eye tracking is almost guaranteed to be in
second-generation VR headsets,” said Will
Mason, co-founder of virtual reality media
company UploadVR, when interviewed by
USA Today. “It’s an incredibly important
piece of the VR puzzle.”41
RISE OF ARWhile some of the new controller’s
features have been revealed, it still
holds some secrets. It’s rumoured
the DualShock 5 will come with an
integrated camera to make its motion
controls even better.INTEGRATED CAMERA

Sony has been clear there won’t
be a PS VR 2 at the launch of
PS5, but that doesn’t mean newhardware isn’t coming. A patent
filed by Sony suggests the nextPS VR will feature two front- and
one rear-mounted camera, as well
as LEDs around the headset, anda separate camera sat near
the PS5. We can hope.RUMOUR WARNING ≥ RUMOUR WARNING
